From Silence to Strength: Breaking Free from Spiritual Control
For five years, Kelsea was trapped in a small, isolated religious community that controlled every aspect of her life. When she began to question some of the group's practices and chose to stop attending meetings, she was labeled as "evil" and accused of having a personality disorder.
Her husband turned against her, joining others in the group in confronting and condemning her. Despite having peace that she was following God's leading, Kelsea lost everything – her marriage, her job, her home, and her entire support system. Like many survivors of spiritual abuse, she didn't even have the words to describe what she was experiencing.
That's when she found beEmboldened. Through our mentoring program, support groups, and digital curriculums, Kelsea found the understanding and tools she needed to heal and rebuild her life.

In such darkness and pain, I’m so immensely thankful that I found so much understanding of what I’d been through, so many answers and guidance. I actually have hope for the future again. Probably more important than anything, I’ve found a desperately needed sense of community. Again, words will fail me to give due credit to how helpful it’s been working with beEmboldened. I’m still struggling and meeting with them regularly. But, it’s only because of beEmboldened that I feel much sense of community at all, and church being possible at all, or hope and healing at the end being possible at all.
